Fueling Curiosity: How C-EDU is Shaping the Next Generation with Education and Technology

To mark the International Day of Education, C-EDU, a core arm of CSAAE’s Socio-Economic Program Area, organized a dynamic and insightful visit to St. Joseph the Worker International School, Owerri. The event aimed to educate students on the critical role of education and technology in shaping the future while inspiring them to think creatively about their potential impact on society

Led by Blessing Bodunde, C-EDU Coordinator, and Mr. Obinna, CSAAE’s Socio-Economic Program Officer, the session engaged over 500 students in discussions about education’s transformative role in society. A student remarked, “We are learning in order to make society a better place,” reflecting a deep understanding of education’s impact

The session explored four key themes designed to educate and inspire students about the critical link between education, technology, and their future potential.

Students were first introduced to the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through relatable examples such as Siri, self-driving cars, and educational apps. These examples made AI practical and easy to understand, illustrating how it already impacts their daily lives and holds immense potential for shaping the future

The importance of continuous learning and creativity was also emphasized, encouraging students to see education as more than just acquiring knowledge—it is a pathway to driving change and innovation in society. They were inspired to remain curious, adaptable, and committed to personal and professional growth throughout their lives

Another significant focus of the session was the relationship between human creativity and automation. Students learned that while AI and technology can perform tasks and solve problems, they lack the originality and imagination that only humans possess. This reinforced the idea that technology is a complement to human potential, not a replacement, and that creativity remains at the core of innovation

The session inspired students to think boldly about their future contributions to society. They were reminded that education is the foundation of all aspirations, enabling them to turn dreams into reality and make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond

The concept of AI was effectively simplified through a visually engaging video, making it both captivating and easy to understand for the students. Interactive activities throughout the session further encouraged student participation, allowing them to ask questions and share their thoughts.
