Security: Perimeter Fencing and Security Personnel

Primary School without perimeter fence
Due to the rising insecurity in Nigeria, many school children have either been abducted or kidnapped by terrorists, kidnappers and child traffickers while in school. Primary schools in Southeastern Nigeria, – especially those in rural communities – are permanently closed on Mondays due to sit-at-home order enforced by some violent members of IPOB. Some primary schools are now abodes for criminals, drug addicts and all sorts of bad boys due to lack of security.
A teacher recently recounted to us how school children have to clean the poops of the gangs every morning as the gangs defecate in the classrooms. Another complained that due to lack of security, thieves easily access the classrooms and offices to steal instructional materials and other valuables. Insecurity discourages parents from sending their children to schools and donors from donating infrastructure and learning materials

Proposed perimeter fence
To keep school children, teachers and school properties safe, there is urgent need for perimeter fencing and deployment of two security personnel as recommended by UBEC.
C-EDU partners with donors to build perimeter fences and deploy two trained security personnel to primary schools.
