WHO WE ARE
C-EDU stands for CSAAE Educational Initiative
CSAAE envisions a better society where all can find support and encouragement to work hard, live in dignity and feel proud to belong.
Given the importance of primary education towards the building of such a society, the Centre prioritizes the promotion of quality, inclusive and affordable primary education delivery.
C-EDU was launched to respond to the poor status report of primary education delivery in Southeast Nigeria published by the Centre in 2023. The report is a product of the Centre’s two-year (2021-2023) review of the status of primary education delivery in Southeast Nigeria.
With funding from OSIWA, the Centre trained and worked with 185 researchers to collect eye-witness data from 1,380 primary schools in the region using a uniform assessment form developed from the minimum standards for primary education as set by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). The report (https://online.pubhtml5.com/rzjf/zfky/#p=18) shows that none of the schools inspected met the minimum standards for primary education as set by UBEC. Thus, the need for FPSP.
Our Goal
The overarching goal of C-EDU is to systematically and sustainably fix identified problems critical to quality, inclusive and affordable primary education delivery in Southeast Nigeria.
Our Objectives
The Specific Objectives of C-EDU include:
- To keep pupils, teachers and school properties safe through perimeter fencing and deployment of security personnels.
- To provide conducive learning environment through renovation or building of classrooms and provision of comfortable chairs/desks for learning.
- To improve the health, safety and well-being of the pupils through provision of WASH facilities.
- To enhance teaching, learning and competitiveness through capacity building for teachers, provision of critical learning materials including ICT labs, libraries and school kits.
